At times while working on any project, you realize the need of SharePoint REST API. The SharePoint 2010 REST (Representational State Transfer) API is used to search or filter data without even writing a single line of code as it can be used in the form of a URL. It is one of the best ways for SharePoint Client Application Development.

SharePoint Rest API is useful for those applications which do not have SharePoint 2010 installed like mobile platform or any other client side application. We can construct HTTP request URL's to fetch the data from SharePoint. We can get data from listdata.svc, which is present in _vti_bin folder of a SharePoint site.

REST service model data entity is a way, which can be addressed by a URL. Query strings can be added to URL's to filter our search.
